Rain On London Greeting cards

We were given an amazing opportunity to work with the amazing trust called Rain On London. Rain on London set up amazing Campaign called 'Cards for the Elderly' (https://www.rainonme.org/).

Munsimar (an ex-pupil of Bannockburn) has recently become an ambassador for the trust and she and her mum (a parent governor) asked for our help.

Over the lock down Munsimar and her sister found out about this campaign and started designing and writing greeting cards to elderly people in care homes.  Many of these residents have dementia, physical impairments, or are in end of life care. The idea was to make them feel loved and not forgotten.

This campaign is supporting the residents’ mental health and empowering the children at this time (during Covid-19) to do good even when they may be feeling helpless (https://www.rainonme.org/cards-for-the-elderly) Munsimar kindly made a video for the children to understand a little bit more about the campaign.

The groups from the Pupil Leadership Groups The Smile Squad, Community Champions, The Art group and The well being team from Years 1 to 6 worked hard on creating some lovely messages for other children to use in their greeting cards which they designed.

Well done to all the children who took part.

You should feel very proud of yourselves.

The cards will now be sent off to the trust and then sent on to care home across the whole of the United Kingdom.

Here are some of the photos of the writing sessions and some children designing their cards.
