As part of our learning in Geography we went on a trip to the Royal Observatory where we got to stand on the meridian line, with one foot in the eastern and one foot in the western hemispheres. During our visit we saw an amazing giant telescope and learned how, many years ago, sailors would set the time by the dropping of the red ball on top of the Observatory roof at exactly 1 pm each day.
