Y5 visit Townley Grammar

Some Year 5 children were given the opportunity to visit Townley Grammar School to take part in an inspirational workshop based on algorithms, coding, programming and debugging. The children began the day learning a card trick called '21' where it appeared they could read somebody's mind; it was in fact all based around an algorithm! They then watched a dance routine and had to give instructions to a robot to perform a part of the routine. Once testing their algorithms on each other, they soon found the errors! They ended the day with creating their own dance routine on Scratch. They were able to program the 'sprite' to move into multiple position, speeding it up as though it were dancing. The children had a thoroughly brilliant day and all feel as though they are more confident in using Scratch!
