Bannockburn goes Car Free for a day....and look how brilliant it was!

On Friday 20th September both Manor Way and High sites went 'Car Free' for the day to support the global event of Car Free Day which takes place annually on 22nd September. Bannockburn Road and Camrose Street were both closed for 4 hours each, so that we could do a range our outdoor activities in the extra space such as chalk drawing and road running races. Before school at High Street there was an amazing hard-boiled egg-rolling race down the hill on Bannockburn Road, which was great fun for all the family.

At High Street, the Year 1 children spent time learning about road safety with their teachers and Jim our crossing patrol officer. At Manor Way, some of the Junior Travel Ambassadors team set up an after-school street party with travel quizzes, active travel photo-booth, bubble stalls, smoothie bike station and even a cake sale. At High Street there was also a summertime disco in the streets with lots of tasty healthy snacks.

All the money raised will go towards our fundraising for Jeans for Genes Day.

The JTA team would like to thank the Premises Team at both sites who help keep us safe to ensure we could do all these amazing activities, and also to all the families who came and supported by getting involved in the day's celebrations.

Check out the photos below of all the fun things we got up to:

Please remember to be safe on the street and you should never play in the road on a 'normal' day. From your JTA team
