Shakespeare in Year 3!

This first half of the Autumn Term in our history lessons, Year 3 have been learning about William Shakespeare and why he was such an inspirational writer. We read some famous Shakespearean quotes and deciphered what each one meant in modern day English.

We then tried to write phrases in old English using words such as 'thou', 'art' and 'doff'. After watching a range of clips from Shakespeare's plays, we sorted different titles according to whether they were written by Shakespeare or not.

It has also been really interesting to learn about The Globe theatre, locating it on a map of London and then considering how the experience of visiting a theatre or cinema has changed.
