Year 5 have spent the last three weeks honing their descriptive writing skills by using prepositional simile openers. They have also been using dialogue (complete with speech punctuation) to move their stories forward.
The children have shown effort and perseverance, and the staff have been astounded by the creative ideas they have had.
Today, Aspen Class worked with their Shoulder Partners to edit their writing. It is always a good idea to get someone else's opinion on what has been done well and what could be improved. For our editing session today we used an exercise called 'Rally Robin Coach', when one child takes on the role of the 'coach' and supports their partners in suggesting ways in which they could improve their work.
