Torah Scrolls in Year 3

During our RE lesson this week in Year 3, we looked at the Torah Scroll in more detail and learnt that the Torah is the most holy Jewish book. It contains the five books of Moses, which we now know is the the laws for Jews (including the Ten Commandments).

The Torah is stored inside the Ark of the Covenant in the Synagogue and no one is allowed to touch it, so a Yad is used to read it. After learning about the Torah and understanding how important it is to the Jewish faith, we made our own Torah scrolls using a variety of materials and colours. We then shared our scroll designs with the whole class, it was great to see so many different patterns.
