Year 4 have been discussing this year's Black History Month theme: Reclaiming Narratives.
So far, we have recalled our learning from previous year groups about Black individuals who have made contributions throughout history. We have also shared some of our favourite books that contain Black protagonists and also books that are written by Black authors. Don't forget to visit your local library if there is a specific book you would like to read that we do not have at school.
Next week, we will using the book 'Race Cars' to promote age appropriate discussion about how we can fight racial injustices. We will also be reading the book 'The Proudest Blue' and rewriting the narrative from the point of view of the protagonist, Asiya.
