Flight - problem solving in Year 6

Year 6 have spent time this week developing our problem solving skills. We were faced with a pilot conundrum, a vacant seat and only one person capable of landing the plane. Together we discussed the appropriate problem solving strategies and reasoned why this may or may not be appropriate for the problem.

Upon reflection, we decided that acting out, drawing out and making models of the problem would lead us to a solution. Here we were able to use our communication, reasoning and questioning skills effectively.

Eventually, we tried a simpler version of the problem and looked for patterns in our results. We hope to find a solution to the problem very soon!
