Apple Class in Reception participated in various activities linked to the swirling whirling snowstorm from the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’
The children created repeated patterns using felt on a
spiral swirling whirling snowstorm.
They painted patterns using a paintbrush onto tinfoil.
They explored ice cube painting, creating swirling, twirling
and whirling patterns.
The children then printed with pom-poms attached to a peg, to add another layer of falling snow.
Groups of children worked together to make ‘snow’. The
children manipulated the snow using their hands to make snowballs and snowmen.
As a class they experimented what happens when they sprinkle salt over blocks of ice.
The class developed their fine motor skills by drawing snowflakes with chalk.
