Year 3 took part in Active Maths today. They threw beanbags and used metre sticks, measuring tapes and trundle wheels to measure in metres and centimetres how far they managed to throw them. In pairs, they then added their distances together to calculate a total. Then, they subtracted the shortest throw from the longest throw. Lastly, they ordered their throws from longest to shortest.

In Science, we are learning about what living things are and what a habitat is. We learnt that there are 7 things needed for something to be a living thing, using the acronym MRS GREN to help us remember. We also learnt that there are many types of habitats and it must have all the things that living things need to survive. We explored forest school to see if we could find living things , things that have never been alive and things that used to be alive. Take a look at what we found!

Year 6 - Tribute to Burt Bacharach
How many Burt Bacharach songs do you know? Probably more than you think...
Year 6 continued to improve their ensemble and improvising skills this week using a piece of music based on the songs of Burt Bacharach.
They learnt to play the Head (tune) and the Middle 8, and then improvised in turn in 4 bar phrases.
Year 3 get measuring!
In Maths, Year 3 are currently looking at length. Today we looked at different ways we can measure the objects around us. We began by using rulers and metre sticks to measure items in our classroom. We then headed out onto the playground to explore how to use trundle wheels. We estimated distances first and then measured distances in metres, using the trundle wheels.
Year 4: PE Football Competition
In year 4, we have been taking part in a football competition between the classes. We put all the skills we had learnt during our PE sessions to the test in our matches. We dribbled, passed, defended and shot. It was a great session that we all really enjoyed.

Wellbeing Award for Schools- reassessment
In 2019, Bannockburn achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools. Since then we have continued to expand and develop our support of wellbeing and mental health in the school community.
It is now time for the school to be reassessed.
The award focuses on the long-term culture of the whole school. It ensures that mental health and wellbeing sit at the heart of our school life.
- Everyone feels safe, included and valued.
- Promote positive social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, resilience and wellness for pupils, staff and our community.
- Everyone believes in themselves, creating relationships that develop them personally, socially and emotionally.
Staff, parent/carers and older pupils will be asked to participate in evaluations of the school's provision for emotional wellbeing and mental health.

Computing with Year 1
Today, Lime Tree class enjoyed using the laptops as part of their Computing lessons. Following instructions, they were able to log on to the school system and load up Kiddle. Using the search bar, we typed in “patterns in nature”. After clicking on the images tab, the children enjoyed searching through different images. After some exploration time, they selected a picture they liked best and with support saved it into a file.
