Life as a Victorian child - Year 4

Year 4 experienced what life was like for a Victorian child. When the children entered the classroom, their desks were in rows and boys had to sit on one side and the girls on the other - they were NOT allowed to speak to each other. All lessons were carried out in silence and any child who failed to follow this rule was made to wear the 'Dunce' hat. The children learnt a song which helped them to understand how children had to work for very little money. They then had the chance to research about the author 'Charles Dickens' ready to write a biography next week.
