Sounds, Symbols and finding beat 1...
Last year our Year 3 children used chair drumming to learn about rhythm and music note reading. This year they are continuing that learning, but introducing new sounds and instruments.
This week we revisited our prior learning about the different sounds our percussion instruments can make, then transferred those sounds onto a pattern we learnt in Year 2.
Then we looked at how we could write that pattern out as symbols. Over the coming weeks the symbols will start to look more and more like conventional music notes and we will be writing our own patterns.
We are also learning to work out where the STRONG beat is in music we play and listen to - then counting how many beats are in each bar.
Here are Hazel class in their lesson this morning.
