Year 4 Science

In Science, Year 4 have been investigating 'States of Matter'. We found out what properties a solid, liquid and gas have and talked about examples of these in real life.

This week, we took a closer look at some everyday products, such as marshmallows, shaving foam and cornflour, and used our knowledge to decide if they were a solid, liquid or gas and explained our reasons why.

Later in the lesson, we discovered what happened to cornflour once we added water and thought about other examples when matter might change state.

Aadam in Pine Class was especially keen to demonstrate his understanding as he brought in a cup of ice the following day. He explained that the water in the cup was now a solid after he placed it in the freezer but last night it was a liquid!
