Health and Hygiene in Year 2

Caution! Do not read this blog while eating!

Today we looked at our bread investigation to see the result. We looked at the three pieces of bread; one was touched by dirty hands, another clean hands and the third wasn’t touched at all so that it could act as the control.

We saw that the bread that was touched with dirty hands turned mouldy, the bread touched with clean hands also had a tiny bit of mould and the bread touched with gloves remained clean. We learnt that the bread has turned mouldy because it was exposed to germs.

Germs will grow in dirty and wet places, which is why the dirty hands and clean hands changed the bread. This is why it is important to clean our hands and dry them properly so germs do not spread.
