Mini Chef with Year 6 Linden

This half term, Linden Class took part in their Mini Chef lesson, where they made and sold a roasted pepper and sweet potato soup.

Prior to this, the children had a lesson in the classroom where they learnt about seasonality and which foods grow in the United Kingdom during Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. They then discussed how food is imported from around the world and the impact of eating sustainably.

Below are some photos of the children chopping onions and sweet potatoes and blending the ingredients together.

They had a great time!

Year 3 have a debate!

Today, Year 3 learnt about and experienced democracy. They debated the question 'would you rather... Always make the decisions or always have the decisions made for you?' We thought of both side of the arguments and then took a vote. The majority of children voted to always make the decisions! We then thought about how this related to Ancient Greece and the similarities and differenced between our societies.

Explore the Maya Gods with Year 6

This half term, the Year 6 students have been developing their knowledge of the Ancient Maya.

In doing so, they enjoyed a lesson which involved researching 5 of the Ancient Maya gods and the roles they played in Maya society. To ensure they had a solid understanding of each god, the students took part in matching card games and in groups, made posters which displayed facts and images of a god of their choice.

After, the children practised their speaking and listening skills by presenting their information to the rest of the class. All of the students really enjoyed taking on the role of historians.

Year 2 - Multiples of 2 and 10

Multiples of 2 and 10

In Year 2, we have been learning about Multiplication and making groups using our times tables knowledge. For this lesson, we looked at the multiples of 2 and 10 using arrays. We also looked at the differences between odd and even numbers using multiples of 2 and 10 and sorted them into groups.

Year 2 make string instruments!

Over the last few weeks, Year 2 have been making their own string instruments. We collected our materials, then used our designs to create our instruments using cardboard boxes, coloured paper and glue. Once we were happy with our shape, we added elastic bands for the strings and then attached a handle to our instruments and created a strap or stand for them. We then had to create a hinge by using folded cardboard to allow the stand to open and close. Finally, we showed off our instruments and played them together. Take a look below at the outcome!

Some children in year one went to visit a truly magical grotto yesterday. They were very grateful for presents they received from a jolly Father Christmas!

Wintery Cricket in Year 4

On a rather chilly Friday morning, Year 4's Ash class took on another specialist cricket coaching session with Platform Cricket. Luckily, we had our warm winter jumpers and plenty of cardio activities to keep us toasty! In this final session, we incorporated all of our newly taught skills to play a fun game of cricket. It was fantastic to see how much Year 4 have learnt from the brilliant coaching they have received.
