In this week’s History lesson, Year 3 learnt about how important fire was to prehistoric humans. We thought about all the different ways that early humans used fire and how it helped them to survive. After this, we found out how humans in the Stone Age would have built a fire and then discussed how the uses of fire changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We then built our own fires, using a range of materials such as card and tissue paper to create rocks, wood and flames. In groups, we role-played as Stone Age humans discovering and building a fire. We then mimed different uses of fire for our classmates to guess.
