Djembe Drums in Year 2 Sycamore Tree

Today we loved playing the Djembe drums with Mr Griffiths during our music lesson.

Djembe drums (or jembe drums) are rope-tuned, skin-covered goblet drums which are played with bare hands, originally from West Africa. The drums are though to gather people together in peace.

We learnt how to use 'bouncy hands', taps and 'sticky hands' to create different sounds and pitches. We then learnt a sequence using all three types of movements and performed them together as a class.

What instruments can you play?
