Reception - Apple Tree celebrate Chinese New Year!

Throughout the week we have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We have enjoyed watching a story about all the animals in the Chinese New Year and know that 2020 is the year of the rat.

We worked out that the children in Apple Tree were either born in the year of the horse or the year of the goat. What year were you born in?

We discussed how Chinese New Year is celebrated and agreed that the parade, the dragon dancing and the fireworks sound so much fun. We have enjoyed making making crafts this week including lanterns, dragons and Chinese New Year paper chains.

We also had a chance to taste some noodles and described what they taste like. Some of us thought they were yummy, while some of us were unsure. Our favourite part was playing with the noodles, we tried using chopsticks to see if we could pick them up. We thought the noodles were 'slippery' and 'cold'.  We had so much fun celebrating Chinese New Year. How did you celebrate?
