Reception - Fruit Tasting with Apple Tree

Throughout the week, Apple Tree in Reception have been discussing the Five Senses. On Tuesday, we focused on our sense of taste by 'taste testing' a variety of foods. Before we tasted any foods we thought about some words we might use to describe the taste of something. As a class we came up with words including hot, cold, hard, soft, sweet and sour.
During the tasting, some children wanted to be blindfolded so they could guess the foods they were eating and describe what they could taste. We tried grapes, apples, olives and lemon. Here is what some children said:

Alexiea said: "The grapes taste a bit watery...like some sweets."
Jude said, "The olives taste salty and very yummy. I love olives."
Aaryan said, "The lemon is too sour."
Aaqib said, "The banana...sweet."
Gurtaj said, "I like the banana and grape...the grape is very juicy."
