It is World
Health Day on April 7th 2020. It is the day to celebrate the
work of nurses and remind world leaders of the critical role they play in
keeping the world healthy. This is important more now than ever. Nurses enable
one of the children’s rights to be maintained and upheld:
ALL CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
HAVE THE RIGHT TO THE BEST HEALTH CARE POSSIBLE, SAFE WATER TO DRINK,
NUTRITIOUS FOOD, A CLEAN AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT, AND INFORMATION TO HELP THEM
STAY ALIVE, HEALTHY AND SAFE (Article 24 UN Convention on the Rights of the
Child)
To mark World Health Day, you
could make a poster, with perhaps a message of thanks to all nurses around the
world. Then display it in a window of your home or on the gate leading to your
property. When you are out taking your daily
exercise, you could count how many posters you see. You could get together with
your friends to make it a competition, take photos of everybody’s poster and
send them to perhaps an adult who could be the judge!
Send an email to your friends
and relatives telling them about World Health Day – perhaps they would like to
be part of your poster competition? Wouldn’t it be great if they sent you
photos of their posters from all over the world. Get as many people involved as
you can!
