To tie in with our new topic this half term, 'A Force to be Reckoned With', Year 3 have been learning all about forces and magnets in their Science lessons.
This week, we explored magnetism and magnetic fields, thinking about how we know whether an object is magnetic or not. We experimented with using magnets of varying strengths to attract paper clips at different distances. Then we had fun making patterns in iron filament using magnets and seeing how a magnetic field works. Finally, we talked about scrapyards and how objects are sorted using enormous magnets. In pairs, we sorted items around the class into magnetic or non-magnetic.
