This term, Year 3 are reading The Iron Man and are working towards writing a poem inspired by chapter 1 of this book. During our English lessons this week, we have been generating lots of interesting descriptive language to use in our poems. Today, we discussed the importance of incorporating the five senses in our descriptions and then focused in on audio and tactile experiences. We listened carefully to 4 sound clips and then drew what we visualised after each, also adding any onomatopoeia and adjectives that came into our mind. It was interesting to compare and discuss our drawings, as there was a lot of variation! Then, we completed a carousel in which we experienced touching a range of objects, before discussing and mind mapping language we could use to describe such tactile experiences.
