Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at Poetry and Playscripts in our Guided Reading lessons. We looked at various styles of poems with a link to our topic 'Good to be Green' and our favourite was 'Paper Bag' by Zaro Weil. We learnt lots about intonation and expression and practiced reading aloud. The following week we used an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ playscript. We enjoyed reading as characters such as, Alice and the Queen of Hearts with intonation and expression (especially the angry queen!).
We learnt the importance of performing and not just reading a script which helped us when practising and performing our lines. We first looked at what the key features of the play script are to help us understand our characters. We all took part in changing our tone of voice and using lots of expression when performing our poems and plays.
