Year 4 - Art
In Art, we have been learning about how tints and shades can be used to show water moving from dark to light. First, we learnt how a tint is made by adding white and a shade is made by adding black. Then we used inspiration from artists such as Joy Labinko to practise. Some children also created waves pictures based on Hokusai's print 'The Great Wave'. We are really proud of our final pieces of art.
Year 5 Science - Investigating Parachutes
As part of our Science learning in Autumn 1, Year 5 investigated whether bigger parachutes or smaller parachutes would fall more quickly.
After making a range of differently sized parachutes, we took them outside to test them. We recorded our results, drew a conclusion and then used our learning about forces to explain why bigger parachutes fell more slowly than small parachutes.
Year 4 - Science
Today, Ash Tree started learning about their new Science topic: Living Things and Their Habitats.
They discussed their previous learning in Year 2 and 3 linked to this topic and used post it notes to share what they already knew and what they wanted to find out.
Plumstead Gardens - Year 5 Trip
As part of our Outdoor Adventurous Activities topic in PE, Year 5 spent the morning taking part in a range of activities in Plumstead Gardens.
We went on a leaf hunt, played some outdoor games and enjoyed using the play equipment.
Year 1 Investigating house building
Year 1 children read their new book today 'The Three Little Pigs'. They enjoyed visiting different classrooms and using different materials to make houses. Children used straw, wood and bricks (clay) just like the pigs in the traditional tale.
What other materials could you use to make a house?
