This week Year 3 looked at the importance of 'Shabbat' for Jewish people. We worked in table groups to look at what a 'Shabbat' table contains and what each item represents. We discussed how challenging we might find having a whole 24 hours without any form of technology every week!
In the Jewish faith, people celebrate 'Shabbat' every Friday evening by turning off all electronic devices and sharing a specially prepared meal and saying prayers. The weekly ritual highlights the importance of marking how God rested after creating the world. Wine is shared, bread is split and candles are lit to pay respect.
