This term, the children in Year 6 will be learning how to write a fantastic character description!
So... to kick things off with a BANG, the Year 6 teachers decided to surprise the children by dressing up as a character from Harry Potter. The teachers acted in the role of their character for the whole morning as children were tasked with observing carefully to identify how their character spoke and acted.
Children had to try and record their teacher's mannerisms and their gestures; they also needed to carefully consider how their teacher spoke, paying particular attention to the tone and intonation used.
This will help their learning going forward where children will be learning how to use pathetic fallacy, non-verbal cues and dialogue to describe a character.
