Hockey in Year 5 #pe

This half term in Year 5, we have been developing our hockey skills in outdoor PE.

This week, we played a whole-class game where two children acted as umpires. This was the first time children learnt about the different positions in hockey (defence, midfield and attack).

The children learnt about what each role entails and where on the pitch they should be positioned.

The children playing in defence did an excellent job of supporting the goal keeper and very few goals were scored.

The umpires were responsible for checking the rules of hockey were being followed and were also checking that skills, such as the stick flick and jab, were being implemented.
