This week, Year 3 have begun to learn about how inverted commas are used in stories (such as 'Perseus and Medusa') to show when characters are speaking. We have been learning the rules when writing speech in our own 'defeating the monster' stories and creating lines of speech for Perseus, Medusa and King Polydectus to say.
We separated each part of the line of speech onto a different piece of paper to make sure we didn't miss anything out. Then, we practised saying out lines of speech, thinking about how punctuation and different synonyms for 'said' can change the way a character speaks.
