On Wednesday, the Smile Squad and the Diversity Team held their first meeting. They discussed what they would like to learn about in Anti-Bullying week and the resounding feedback was 'Why do some people choose to bully others?' This has been passed on to class teachers who will feed it into the children's learning this week. They then got into groups of mixed age (year 2 - year 6) and sorted statements into 'joking' and 'bullying' behaviours. This promoted lots of discussion on when friendly teasing/banter can turn into bullying. They then discussed the purpose of Odd Socks Day and prepared posters to display in their classrooms linked to the importance of celebrating our uniqueness.
