In Art this half term, the students in Year 6 have designed, made and evaluated their own totem poles. This links to their learning in Humanities as during the time of the Ancient Maya, many individuals carried totem poles which contained glyphs, designs and animalistic features.
To create their totem poles, the Year 6 students used wire and clay. First, they shaped their wires before using a slip solution to add clay to them. Finally, the students used instruments to carve and design their totem poles.
