Coronavirus and closure of schools

Dear Parents/Carers,

Let me start by saying that we want to wish all of our pupils, parents and families the best of health at this time and hope that everyone is safe.

As you know, as a state school we have had to follow guidance from Government and the Dfe regarding the lead up to today and we will continue to do so.  Thank you so much for all of the support and kind words as we all approach these very unique times together.

Following updates announced yesterday, the school will be following our close down procedure to ensure that all families remain safe and that children can continue their learning in some capacity.  As a school we have been preparing for this for many weeks and we will be initiating this plan from today.

We will be sending out work packs today for all children within school and will send out details later for all of those children not in school.  The school website will be your best source of communication and as we go through the next few weeks/months, please can I ask that you check into this Monday - Friday.  There will be a specific drop down tab  titled:  WORKING TOGETHER

The first step is to ask that if you or anyone in your household fall into the following high risk categories, that you do not send your children to school until Government announces that schools will be fully open.  This is because these categories place your household at risk:

  • Aged 70 or older
  • Chronic (long term) respiratory diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or bronchitis
  • chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
  • chronic kidney disease, such as hepatitis
  • chronic neurological conditions, such a s Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), a learning disability or cerebral palsy
  • diabetes
  • problem with your spleen - for example, sickle cell disease or if you have had your spleen removed
  • a weakened immune system as the result of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, or medicines such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy
  • being seriously overweight (a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above)
  • those who are pregnant
We will send further updates as the day goes on.

Kind regards,

Mrs Rachel Ford
