On the way to the Palace we walked down Whitehall and saw 10 Downing Street and House Guards Parade.
As part of the children's learning linked to Democracy, the children were given a tour of the Palace. The children were split into two smaller groups of and given a tour of some of the important rooms within this iconic building.
The children visited many different rooms, including both the Houses of Commons and Lords, the Voting corridors, the Queen's Dressing Room, Central Lobby where politicians are often interviewed on the tv, and finally Westminter Hall, which is the oldest part of the Palace dating back to 1099 by William II, son of William the Conqueror.
Finally, the children all came together for a workshop called, Journey to Democracy. The workshop explained how as a country our democracy has evolved since the time of King John from the late 12th Century up to the present day.
Unfortunately, we do not have many photos from inside the Palace. This is due to security reasons. However, we were allowed to take one photo inside Westminster Hall.
On Friday 6th March some children from Aspen and Maple classes will also go up to Westminster and and visit the Palace.
