Year 2 Sycamore Class - Go Exploring!

Welcome back to school everyone :)

Today, we started our new topic in Sycamore Tree by finding letters hidden around the hall. We found 9 letters and then arranged them to make a word.

Can you figure out what the title of our new topic is using the words below?

L E E R P O X R S

We then went outside and used an aerial view map of our playground and compass points to locate hidden objects. We used navigational language such as:

- North, East, South, West
- Left turn, right turn
- Quarter turn, full turn, half turn
- anti-clockwise, clockwise

We then created some fantastic pieces of art by folding, bending, twirling, curling and sticking paper. We made 3D ocean scenes using a range of different blues, greens and whites to represent the waves. Some children made choppy, rough waves by creating large, high bends and others chose to make a calm, tranquil scene by curling their paper tightly.

We are all very excited to find out all about explorers and Christopher Columbus. What would you like to find out?
